Windows Phone: Fastest to Reach 10,000 Apps

I'm glad to read this news at Zdnet.com blog, by Matthew Muller indicating that Windows Phones is the fastest OS reaching 10,000 apps milestone.

For all those who were doubting about Microsoft' abilitty to catch the mobile train back, here's the answer.

iFacturas bet hard for two main platforms: iOS (quite a safe bet, I know. Going with iPhone guarantees quite a hit) and WP7 (way before the big launch, iFacturas was already developed for this platform. As a matter of fact, this is the only platform where iFacturas is being offered in Spain)

You may have seen myWindows Phone Wednesday articles and in my last one I was expecting the Marketplace to hit 10,000 apps some time around my next week’s article. It seems that developers were especially aggressive this week though and according to the Marketplace Browser website we are now at 10,037 apps for Windows Phone 7. This just happens to have been the fastest platform to 10,000 apps. webOS is still only about half way to this milestone and it has been out since mid-2009.
According to data Pocketnow referenced, it took Apple 4.7 months to reach this level and Android 11 months. BlackBerry App World launch in April 2009 and has about 20,000 apps. I am not a huge fan of just counting up apps as a way to decide who wins, but with such huge selections the chances that the apps you like are available is much greater.

Predicates in Core Data

Database programming is all about filtering and sorting tables linked to each other. According to the book Core Data , «Core Data is Apple’s object graph management and persistency framework for iOS, OS X, watchOS, and tvOS.» In a sense, predicates are an object version of the WHERE clause in SQL. Just like NSFetchRequest represent the FROM clause in SQL. I never have had problems with WHERE and FROM in SQL, but the predicate format strings in Core Data has been quite a struggle for me. I don’t think the struggle is only my fault. Predicates should clearly be thought, at least to me, as a method of writing WHERE clauses. How To Disable Google’s Personalization Of Search Results

Do you want to know what the rest of the world gets as answer for their search, instead of what Google thinks you may want to see? I do, therefore the post from MakeUseOf.com by Ann Smarty did catch my interest. She explains it well, both for one-time use and how to change your firefox and chrome browser, and I just copy the one-time part: 2.
