iPhone telefon-problemer i USA og på Espa

CNET's Elinor Mills treffer mange iPhone bruker hjemme, når hun forteller om sine problemer med telefondelen av iPhone. Her er hennes seneste artikkel.

I'm living in the old town of Villajoyosa in Spain and on the countryside in Norway. I'm having so much problem with dropped calls, late messages, failed SMS that I am serious considering going back to Nokia. I rised this issue with Ph.D. in mobile technology in the University of Oslo. He told me that the problem i twofold. Both iPhone and the Norwegian carrier Telenor had made bad design solution for areas where there was a lot of changing between 3G and Edge. He advised me to turn off 3G when I was in rural areas. I have observed my iPhone problems, and it is really connected to rural areas. I haven't however tried to turn off the 3G still. I will however change carrier (in Norway we luckyli have two Apple carriers), follow his advice and cross fingers that life will be better with the 3GS. I'm still not able to give iPhone up...

Predicates in Core Data

Database programming is all about filtering and sorting tables linked to each other. According to the book Core Data , «Core Data is Apple’s object graph management and persistency framework for iOS, OS X, watchOS, and tvOS.» In a sense, predicates are an object version of the WHERE clause in SQL. Just like NSFetchRequest represent the FROM clause in SQL. I never have had problems with WHERE and FROM in SQL, but the predicate format strings in Core Data has been quite a struggle for me. I don’t think the struggle is only my fault. Predicates should clearly be thought, at least to me, as a method of writing WHERE clauses. Hva er den egentlige forskjellen på høstens nettbrett?

Google selger allerede et godt 7’ nettbrett, Nexus, og Microsoft og Amazon har annonsert sine nye som kommer i oktober/november. Rykter vil ha det til at Apple kommer med en iPad Mini i oktober. Alle nettbrettene synes å være utmerkede mht spesifikasjoner og pris. Og brukerne står ovenfor en vanskelig oppgave når de skal velge. Horace Dediu i Asymco satte meg på sporet i å se hvilken jobb nettbrettene skal gjøre for oss. Jeg har valgt å se markedet som fire mobile plattformer, eller «Eco-systemer», som de også kalles.
