Locus and Power - @hdediu on @5by5 on the importance of “The Job to be done” on Cars and Networks
Cars and disruptive innovation — that’s a powerful mix! I just listened live to Horace and Dan doing a huge Critical Path show, the 39th. one.
It was just fantastic trying to wrap my thoughts around cars, transportation, aviation, electrical power and networks! Why? May be because we then talk about real stuff, not just screens simulating reality. That’s healthy for a programmer/blogger…
Late in the show Horace mentioned the immense worth of networks like roads. He talked about Amsterdam, assuming that they must had being transforming the city to facilitate bicycles for a century.
Horace also remarked that electrical power should be created and consummated locally, as we do with solar energy. He surely is aware that in the Nordic countries are well accustomed to use solar energy by burning wood.
He stressed that we shouldn’t try to innovate neither cars, nor aviation but instead looking on the job to be done. And that’s an advice that make my head spin faster. No I’ve to take a break or my brain will just stall…
But before I finish. I’ve told you about my father earlier, he who are suffering from Alzheimer. Well, the fact is that he was an inventor. And the last thing he worked on before his thoughts got too clouded, was creating electricity from space radiation. I just have to call him and tell him about the show!
