Newsy Airplay-enabled and Raises $1.5 Million in Series B Funding For Mobile News

Almost every day I open Newsy. I like their reports from different medias. I now looking forward to beam their videos to my TV screen.

They've also get a series B funding, and astoundishing little. They have to be very effective as a news broadcaster. $1.5M is just peanuts even for a Norwegian broadcaster.

Newsy, a multisource video news service that analyzes the world’s news coverage, announced today that it has closed a $1.5 million series B round led by a St. Louis-based private equity firm. The second round adds to the $2.75 million in funding Newsy has already raised, bringing total investment to $4.25 million.
The funding will be used to grow the company’s editorial, marketing and sales teams. As its name would suggest, Newsy is a news-destination service that monitors, analyzes, curates and presents the world’s news coverage. Through bite-sized 2 to 3 minute video segments, Newsy offers busy people a useful way to quickly consume the important news stories of the day from around the world.
Newsy also announced that its iPad, iPhone and iPod apps are now fully Airplay-enabled, allowing users to stream Newsy content to their Apple TV. Newsy’s iPad app is pretty cool (Apple just added it to its “Great Airplay-Enabled Apps”)

Predicates in Core Data

Database programming is all about filtering and sorting tables linked to each other. According to the book Core Data , «Core Data is Apple’s object graph management and persistency framework for iOS, OS X, watchOS, and tvOS.» In a sense, predicates are an object version of the WHERE clause in SQL. Just like NSFetchRequest represent the FROM clause in SQL. I never have had problems with WHERE and FROM in SQL, but the predicate format strings in Core Data has been quite a struggle for me. I don’t think the struggle is only my fault. Predicates should clearly be thought, at least to me, as a method of writing WHERE clauses. Hva er den egentlige forskjellen på høstens nettbrett?

Google selger allerede et godt 7’ nettbrett, Nexus, og Microsoft og Amazon har annonsert sine nye som kommer i oktober/november. Rykter vil ha det til at Apple kommer med en iPad Mini i oktober. Alle nettbrettene synes å være utmerkede mht spesifikasjoner og pris. Og brukerne står ovenfor en vanskelig oppgave når de skal velge. Horace Dediu i Asymco satte meg på sporet i å se hvilken jobb nettbrettene skal gjøre for oss. Jeg har valgt å se markedet som fire mobile plattformer, eller «Eco-systemer», som de også kalles.
