Social Media network twitter is releasing impressive numbers. Twitter is currently our best marketing channel. When we turn it off, the visits on our web sites immediately goes down. Users are now sending 140 million Tweets, on average, per day, up from 50 million Tweets sent per day, a year ago. The all-time high in terms of Tweets sent per day was 177 million sent on March 11, 2011. In terms of Tweets per second, the all time high was 6,939 Tweets per second after midnight in  Japan on New Year’s Day . I’ve now added a few more data points to the tracked platforms and also added points for the major console game platforms and Symbian. When judging the performance of a platform, the adoption slope and sustainability over time is perhaps the most interesting measure. One can see how many platforms slow down before reaching 100 million and so far none have hit the billion mark (Windows has but not in the 10 year time frame of this chart.) Looking at game consoles also shows the limits of a narrowly focused platform. They performed better than i-Mode and Netscape but not as well as iTunes or iPod which themselves have growth limits. Number of clicks went to zero during Christmas. I decided not to blog Christmas eve, and the following two holy days. Above you can clearly see the numbers. The nice thing is that it's easy to rise the curve again. My only social media tools used was Instagram, and I used it a lot, posting to both Facebook and Twitter. Waiting for the dinner.
