Azure offered the fastest response times to end users for a standard e-commerce application. But the amount of time that separated the top five public cloud vendors was minuscule. These are first results I know of that try to show the ability of various providers to deliver a workload result. The same application was placed in each vendor's cloud, then banged on by thousands of automated users over the course of 11 months.

We are using Microsoft Azure for iFacturas. Azure gave us so much more than a normal ASP, that they actually acted as a driver for our apps. No Amazon is going to provide something similar. Great! 1)       Como muchos de vosotros ya sabéis, iFacturas es una aplicación de facturación y contabilidad   dirigida a profesionales autónomos y a micro empresas que les permitirá crear y enviar facturas de manera rápida y sencilla desde su iPhone o Windows Phone 7 . Lo que no sé si he comentado anteriormente es que iFacturas es Software as a Service basado en Cloud Computing. De hecho, iFacturas emplea los servicios de Windows Azure y todos nuestros datos están alojados allí, en la nube . Pues bien, según el informe “Las tecnologías de la información y la comunicación en las empresas españolas 2010” , la computación en la nube va ganando peso. El informe indica que el 10% de las empresas usa aplicaciones de ofimática gestionadas “on line” . Es una cifra modesta, pero alentadora. Apuesto a que este año, ese dato se triplicará.

As was told from PDC2010, Microsoft is preparing an App Market in its Marketplaze for Azure. This is great news from iFacturas and it's Application Programming Interface (API). We will market our iFacturas API form App Market so that larger customers can access their data, and also integrate with existing tools. And we can also then let other companies create clients against our webservices. Great stuff!

The Norwegian painter J.C.Dahl sky study Small ISP are delivering most of the mail to companies and organizations in Spain and Norway. Houston is the first dev tools for the # Azure on the web. "We are all in it now," said Steve Balmer in January when he released #Azure, MS new operating system for the cloud. Much unlike the normal hostile attitude to competing platforms, he welcomed alternate technologies like Apple , PHP and Wordpress to their cloud. Yesterday we could get a better glimpse of our future: MS released Houston, a SQL Azure  management tool to create, edit and maintain their cloud database in Silverlight . In the web, free from Windows. Believe me, MS will release Silverlight version of their whole programming tools and programming enviroment during the years to come. And why is MS doing this? Because the OS's are dying and curated enviroments like iOS and Android will take over. And MS will be asure to serve them all - with Azure ;) Other thoughts?

I subscribe fully to our previous blogpost about the need of an API . Our server is in the #Cloud, and lucky for us in the Microsofrt #Azure cloud. There we are using SQL Azure and Windows Azure to the datastorage and business logic. The first layer above our stored procedures is Entity Framework 1. We use RIA services to communicate to and from our ASP.met MVC server. Thats the context where our API will communicate. I imagine 5 reasons why customers will need and API: ReadWriteStart reasons in earlier blog . Our backend accounting system is designed for micro-companies. Larger companies will use only our mobile clients and part of the business logic, and pull the data into their own system. We will appreciate and support additional clients. We will let other countries and sectors have the possibilities to create their own accounting practices. We want to use our API in our clients, and thus enforce separation between layers. ReadWriteCloud : "Microsoft revealed a bit more about its container system for data centers, giving us some pause about it as a symbol of the cloud itself. These boxes represent the future of cloud-based infrastructures for both shared and dedicated networks. Microsoft, Amazon, HP and a number of other vendors use these containers to operate cloud networks. They are becoming fully automated systems that physically represent how we are seeing a fundamental shift in how IT services are managed and deployed. In his keynote at the Microsoft Management Summit, Executive Bob Muglia featured the company's container system used at its Chicago data center, illustrating the company's new datacenter and cloud management capabilities for mass deployment of virtualized technologies. Muglia said the new container system is 10x less expensive than traditional data center infrastructures and 10x faster, too. 'Everything moves faster in the cloud,'Muglia said."

Camping on #BizCampNYC by Microsoft neat Time Square on Manhattan in NYC. A lot of great people are helping us startups to getting things straight from the start. And there’s a lot to straighten up. We’re trying to get iPhone working with Windows and SQL Azure, WCF Ria services and Silverlight, technology which is supposed to be incompatible. In the aftermath of the financial crisis, we have to do the pitching for investors more correct than ever. They are still investing, but the endless row of bad events are making them cautious. Here we can get help from Azure experts, authentication experts, Bing maps experts, from managers seasoned to deal with investors. All in the context of a marvelous building on Av. de las Americas, excellent food and positive atmosphere. I don’t think SW startups can get better help than here. And it doesn’t matter to lodge on the Time Square and be in the middle of “The Big Apple” – New York City!

I'm on the way to #BizCampNYC, to do my and my companys dime to Cloud Computing using Azure. As you probably remember, I’ve changed from Windows to Mac. During this transition I’m stunned to see how little I use real programs. Most of the day I use Google Chrome where I have about 15 tabs running. I have mail, docs, reader, different Facebook pages, my blogs and a couple of websites that I need to consider. I regularly use Settings, Use existing,  to save the setup, in case of need to reload Chrome or OS X. I’ve added a handful of extensions to Chrome; Blog this, Mail this, Delicious, LastPass and twepal. Today we expect Apple to release its tablet. Together with netbooks and iPhone, I expect it to completely make the PC obsolete for most of us. If you don’t do music or graphic editing, heavy development and gaming, I expect the cheap PC to disappear completely. Instead we will get netBooks for under 100 dollar, which will start instantly, weight under a kilo and run for 20 hour...

"The vision of Azure", said Ozzie, "is 'three screens and a cloud,' meaning internet-based data and software that plays equally well on PCs, mobile devices, and TVs." Bob Muglia , president of the Server and Tools Business at Microsoft, announced Windows Server AppFabric Beta 1 --tools for managing the cloud-based apps and servers. In fact, AppFabric Access Control is the new name for Microsoft .NET Services. The beta is available for download today at msdn.microsoft.com/appfabric . Muglia also announced Windows Server virtual machine support on Azure and the release to manufacturing of Windows Identity Foundation, which allows secure access to the cloud-based apps.
